Indoor Recess Policy

(Below 20 degrees includes wind chill)

Indoor or Outdoor AM Recess

If the weather goes below 20 with wind chill, raining, snowing, too windy or for any other reason we deem unsafe for students to be outside, we will call an indoor recess.  If the weather is close to the 20o degree mark, we may hold the decision until right before students arrive at 7:40.

Where Should Students Enter

If we do call an indoor recess, the main entry (buses only), B door (west side), F door (East Side), back café door and H door (kinder/1st grade student only) will be open to allow students to enter.

Students will go directly to their first class and wait outside in the hallway until the bell rings.  The only exception to this is 4th grade who will meet in the gymnasium and students who wish to eat breakfast.

Any parent wishing to come inside the building will need to come into the main office to get a visitor’s pass.  Any parent trying to enter any of the other doors will not be granted access. This is due to APS policy and safety of our students and we appreciate your understanding.

Please make sure that students have the proper clothing.

It is important during this time of year that you send your child with appropriate clothing for the weather (hats, gloves and jackets).  Please make sure you put your child’s name on their clothing items.  This is the time of year our lost and found gets rather large and without names on items it is hard for us to return lost items to students.
