Hi! My name is Regina Strada. This is my 4th year here at Vista Peak, and I couldn't be more excited about the great opportunity to teach sixth grade! I moved to the Denver area in the summer or 2013, specifically to continue my career in education. Prior to my time at VP, I taught both 3rd and 6th grade for a number of years in Upstate New York. It was during this time that I also completed my Masters in Elementary Education at Nazareth College of Rochester. Western New York was a beautiful place to live, as our family spent much time enjoying the Finger lakes, Lake Ontario, the 1000 islands, and the Adirondack Mountains. However, we are very grateful to have a new home with lots of sunshine and a comfortable climate. Not to mention, lots of smiles!!!
I have a very eclectic background, having traveled extensively in the United States and abroad. Teaching is only part of my resume, as I have worked in a number of recreational settings, served in crisis counseling for individuals struggling with addiction, and have invested much of my life supporting children and adults with special needs in residential facilities.
My hobbies include camping, hiking, skiing, painting, photography and exploring music through dance. I also took up cycling 3 years ago, and have found this to be an incredible way to see the world closely. I aspire to keep on seeking adventure in nature, and feel that my new home in Aurora lends itself to being a perfect place to fulfill this journey.
Family is most important to me, and I am blessed to have two amazing sons to share life with. Christopher and Joseph are thrill seekers , who keep me motivated and healthy . We embrace every day with hopes of learning something new, and we find great reward in simply exploring "Nature's Playground". We love to find interesting places that have historical significance, and have a home filled with treasures from our lifetime of "Adventure Days". Maybe now that we are in Colorado, we can add a nugget of gold to our collection!
I am so grateful to be a part of the Vista Peak experience, and look forward to learning and growing with my family of third graders. There is no doubt that my future here will offer great rewards!
