Yolanda Greer has a deep passion for educating children and parents. Her mantra is to educate, equip and empower kids for life. She is a Denver native and a resident of Aurora. Mrs. Greer earned a BA from the University of Northern Colorado in Spanish: Bilingual/Bicultural Education and English as a Second Language. She is licensed in Elementary teaching and highly qualified for the secondary level in Spanish. Her master's degree in School Administration has led to four successful turn-around years in Denver Public middle and high schools as one of the top rated assistant principals in the city. She is ready, willing and able to take on the principalship here at Vista PEAK to increase her impact in education. Her focus is to open the doors of opportunity, access, equity, and achievement for all kids.
Having taught in the public school system for nine years and in Children's Ministry for more than 10 years, Yolanda began seeing a need to educate parents in Purposeful parenting. For several years she and her husband Rod, facilitated a Life Group entitled Parenting with Purpose as well as a Marriage Class. The mission is to equip parents to train their children in a way that produces well mannered, self-sufficient, empowered and productive citizens.
After receiving her first paycheck in education, Yolanda decided to obtain a real estate license to supplement her income. While starting a family, she had a successful stint as a Realtor but little joy in her professional life. She returned to her calling of education where she has found renewed purpose and joy.
Yolanda has spoken at various seminars/workshops in the Denver Metro Area and has been a Parenting/Education contributor for SHINE magazine. Some fun facts about her is that she holds the 1994 Ms. Black Colorado Pageant title and served our country in two tours oversees by entertaining our troops with an Afro-Caribbean band, Hot Molina, with the Department of Defense. She loves to travel and spend time with her husband and their three inspirational and comedic children.
Mrs. Greer is optimistically energetic to join Aurora Public Schools and the dedicated team at Vista PEAK in fulfilling the vision. She believes that her varied set of experiences from childhood to date will serve the community and mission well. Yolanda is grateful and honored by the rigorous hiring process and thanks everyone in the VP community who participated in the process.
