Welcome to a new school year here at Vista PEAK Exploratory, where your child’s educational success is important to us. My name is Christy Dixon, and I will be acting as the new Response to Intervention Coordinator. I have taught Middle School Science for five years in Denver Public Schools and am honored to join the Vista PEAK Exploratory family! Our goal at Vista PEAK Exploratory is to address all of our diverse learner’s needs through high-quality, innovative instructional practices and behavioral supports.
Diverse learners sometimes require a unique approach, depending on individual student need. Here at Vista PEAK Exploratory, we have a multi-tiered academic and behavioral support system known as Response to Intervention, or RtI. As the RtI Coordinator, I am responsible for ensuring that your child is offered a continuum of services as related to their specific academic and/or behavioral needs. RtI focuses on addressing concerns when they first begin in the classroom, so that learning support can be quickly implemented. In RtI, families and teachers team together in intervention planning, monitoring, and decision-making as to needed student support. If you have concerns about your student, please share those with myself or a classroom teacher so those concerns can be addressed in a timely manner.
